Erica was a game changer for my son (who is diagnosed ASD) as well as me. I hired Erica referred by a friend for my son when he was around 4yrs old. He had already gone through several speech therapists since he was 3 but none used floortime (play time) and sensory input as she did at that time. I have heard and seen now more therapists integrating, but back then only a few or very difficult to find. Initially she would film a couple of sessions with my son and me playing and then would review and share input with me as well as demonstrate how to open, engage and close circles of conversations. She also was fantastic incorporating sensory elements that would enhance and provide stimulus for my son's engagement during sessions. She helped me understand better how to follow leads from my son's communication and me building upon that and conversations, rather than me initiating. I also was able to introduce new vocabulary naturally happening during play time. At that time, I could not use words I can today and certainly I can say now she was coaching me as well as Parent Training. At that time in life and still to date many therapists still fail with that part...Parent training and integration in sessions with their children. THIS HELPS EMPOWER US with tools and techniques to have a continuity with our children of what therapists do. Afterwards, I started integrating and asking all in everything I could with any service I hired.for my son. I believe to date that has been the biggest game changer in our journey.
